Privacy Policy

Who we are

Cartwise is operated by Alliluddin Shaik (ABN 69 400 833 775), a sole trader based in Australia. You can reach us at contact@cartwise.com.au.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where visitors are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we also aim to meet the GDPR standards described below.

What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum we need to run the site:

• Usage data. Pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), device and browser type, and referring site. This is collected through analytics.
• Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. If we later offer accounts or price alerts, we would collect your email address for that purpose and say so at the time.
• Cookies. Small files used for analytics and, when you click through to a retailer, affiliate tracking. See below.

We do not collect payment information. Cartwise never processes a transaction. When you decide to buy, you leave our site and purchase directly from the retailer, under their terms and their privacy policy.

Cookies and affiliate tracking

We use analytics cookies to understand which pages are useful. When you click a link to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie recording that you arrived from us, which is how we are credited a commission. These cookies are set by third parties such as Amazon Associates, Commission Factory, Impact, Awin, eBay Partner Network and Skimlinks, and are governed by their own privacy policies.

Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner. If you decline, or before you choose, no analytics runs. You can change your choice any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking affiliate cookies does not change the price you pay or stop you using the site.

How we use your information

• To operate, maintain and improve the site.
• To understand which products and articles people find useful.
• To respond to your enquiries.
• To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.

Who we share it with

We share limited information with the service providers that make the site work:

• Our hosting and infrastructure providers.
• Our analytics provider.
• Affiliate networks, which record referral clicks as described above.

Overseas storage

Our hosting, analytics and affiliate partners may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information consistently with this policy.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to data. No online service can promise perfect security, but because we hold very little personal data and no payment details, there is little to expose.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@cartwise.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to object to processing, to request a copy of your data in a portable format, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will make that clear on the site.
