About Cartwise
We built the shopping tool we wanted ourselves: one that just tells you where to buy, and why.
Why we exist
Buying anything online in Australia means opening eight tabs. One retailer is cheaper but charges shipping. Another is dearer but arrives Tuesday. A third is cheapest of all until you notice it ships from overseas and takes three weeks. Working out the real answer takes twenty minutes, every single time.
Cartwise does that work for you. We line up the same product across every retailer we track, rank them by what it actually costs to get it to your door, and tell you in one sentence which one to pick and why.
How it works
Every product has a barcode. We use it to match listings across different retailers so we know a Sony WH-1000XM5 at one shop is the same one at another. Then we add up the real landed cost, the price plus any shipping you would actually be charged, and sort by that instead of the sticker price.
We also flag the trade-offs. If the cheapest seller takes three weeks to ship from overseas, we say so and show you the best local option. That is the whole product, really: an honest answer rather than a wall of numbers.
How we make money, and what that means
We earn a commission when you buy through our links. It comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket, and it never changes what you pay.
What matters is what we do not do. We do not sell better rankings. We do not take payment to move a seller up the list. We rank by delivered price, full stop, even when the winner earns us nothing. Who is behind it
Cartwise is an independent Australian business run by Alliluddin Shaik (ABN 69 400 833 775). It is small and independent, not owned by a retailer or a retail group, which is exactly why we can rank things honestly.
Where we are heading
We started with electronics and kitchen because they are the categories where the price gaps are biggest and the confusion is worst. More categories are coming, along with price alerts and a browser extension that finds you a better price while you shop. Australia first, then further afield.
